Books That Make You: Double Feature

Books That Make You: Double Feature

This is a special Sunday night on It is a double feature of Books That Make You! From the Boob tube to are they really out there.

It starts at 8 PM eastern with an encore at 11 PM eastern with a conversation with Scott Ryan as he talks with our host Desiree Duffy about his new book, Moonlighting: An Oral History. Moonlighting was the show to watch when TV was worth watching. Once upon a time ABC-TV’s Moonlighting was among the most buzzed-about shows in the country, thanks largely to the bravado of creator Glenn Gordon Caron, who never met a television convention he didn’t want to break, and the sizzling on-screen chemistry between glamorous erstwhile film star Cybill Shepherd and a New Jersey bartender nobody had ever heard of before named Bruce Willis, who bickered and flirted ceaselessly on screen and engaged in epic off-screen battles that all these years later remain the stuff of Hollywood legend. This combustible blend of creative brilliance produced some of the most acclaimed, audacious, and innovative programming of the eighties.

That is immediately followed by Dr. Michael Shermer who is the Founding Publisher of Skeptic magazine, the host of the podcast The Michael Shermer Show, and a Presidential Fellow at Chapman University where he teaches Skepticism 101. Dr. Shermer is the author of a slew of New York Times bestsellers and he has a new exciting book called Giving the Devil His Due: Reflections of a Scientific Humanist.

In the book the devil is anyone who disagrees with you. And what he is due is the right to speak his mind. He must have this for your own safety’s sake, because his freedom is inextricably tied to your own.

All very interesting, but this week Dr. Michael Shermer UFO’s or the lack thereof. As you know Dr. Shermer is the Founding Publisher of Skeptic Magazine, so you might well guess what side he falls on. All of it, definately worth the listen.

Join Desiree Duffy and guests Scott Ryan followed by Dr. Michael Shermer Sunday night June 6, at 8 PM eastern then an encore playing at 11 PM on Books That Make You on
