Condescending?
The Vice Presidential debate was a mild affair considering how the Presidential debate went two weeks ago. Although, like Trump, Pence went way beyond his allotted time and interrupted Sen. Harris twice as much as she interrupted him. Half of her interruptions were trying to establish her allotted time. On three occasions Ms Harris responded to an interruption with the phrase “I’m speaking.” Many considered these to be stark reminders of their own experiences of seeing women struggling for air time, or being interrupted by men in work situations.

Last Chance?
The Commission on Presidential Debates said the next Debate will be held virtually. This after the President tested positive for the coronavirus. The Biden campaign quickly agreed to the virtual format. In repsonse President Trump said that he will not participate. The first event was watched by more than 73 million people. If the President does not change his mind it is unlikely that he will find another avenue to rasise his sagging poll numnbers.

The Great Divide
The pandemic is devastating economies around the globe, but the world’s billionaires have never been richer. Thanks in part to soaring tech stocks, their cumulative wealth has reached a record high. Two days ago President Trump said stimulus talk were over. Then the market dropped 600 points. After seeing the slump, Trump said that some of the stimulus initiatives to help big businesses, such as airlines, should be passed. Yesterday the market responded with a 530 point rise.

It’s Just Not Right
A shocking number of women dropped out of the workforce last month. The estimate is between 600,000 and 850,000 women have stopped looking for work or lost their jobs in September alone, compared with only 78,000 men during that same time. Industries that employ a lot of women, such as hospitality and leisure, are faring worse during the pandemic. Women are also more likely to take on home care responsibilities, which are more demanding than ever.

A Little Good News
A locksmith, who asked to be identified by only his first name, Greg, helped save a Utah woman. The locksmith was doing work at the home. When finished he handed the woman the invoice when he noticed that she had written ‘911’ on her hand in a silent plea for help. He said there was a man in the house, who “acted suspiciously.” Turns out the suspicious man entered the home without permission. And had a previous relationship with her, but was upset that she was dating someone else. Just goes to show that not all heroes wear capes.
