Then threatened not sign the new covid deal because it did not give enough in direct payments. Still Not Getting Better
An average of more than 200,000 people have tested positive for coronavirus every day for two straight weeks in the US. The number of Americans hospitalized and dying from the virus has continued to go up. The US reported more than 117,000 people hospitalized with Covid-19 yesterday, the most since the pandemic began. It also reported 3,400 people dead from the virus yesterday, the second-highest number of Covid-19 deaths in a single day. Now it has reached every continent.

Walmart in the Cross-hairs
The Justice Department is suing Walmart, accusing the retailer of contributing to the prescription opioid crisis by filling thousands of invalid prescriptions and failing to report suspicious orders of opioids. The complaint alleges that Walmart violated the Controlled Substances Act both as an operator of its pharmacies and of its wholesale drug distribution centers.

Return to the Cathedral
Christmas last year was canceled at the Notre Dame Cathedral. This year they were hoping that the organ would have been repaired in time. However, they will have to rent an organ to have their Christmas mass this year. Last year was the first time since 1803 that the Paris cathedral did not hold Christmas services, following the fire in April.

A Florida Man
A Florida man and his flying companion and their dog were aboard an Atlanta-bound flight at New York’s LaGuardia Airport on Monday, when at least one of the passengers opened a cabin door and activated the slide to exit the plane shortly before takeoff. File this under things not to do.
