Everyone is talking today about a revealing New York Times report that exposed, among other things, that President Donald Trump paid no federal income taxes whatsoever in 10 out of 15 years beginning in 2000. He also reportedly paid just $750 in federal income taxes in the year he won the presidency and his first year in the White House.

Tell me if you’ve heard this before.
Almost half of US states are reporting increased numbers of new Covid-19 cases, and health experts are again warning of an even more deadly fall and winter. According to one coronavirus model, the US could see a surge of cases in October and November, resulting in up to 3,000 daily deaths by late December. There is a controversy with Florida’s numbers. The State says the positivity rate is under 5%, but independent studies put it closer to 10%.

One Small Step
Maryland will become the first state to ban foam food service products. The law, which was approved during the 2019 state legislative session, will go into effect on October 1 and includes items such as cups, plates, carryout containers and trays.

What is it with Diamonds?
An Arkansas man has found a 9-carat diamond at Crater of Diamonds State Park. Kevin Kinard, has been going to park since a second-grade field trip — even though he had always come back empty handed. He’s 33 now. And he’s got the second-largest diamond found in the park’s history. More than 75,000 diamonds have been unearthed at the Crater of Diamonds State park since the first ones were discovered in 1906.

Tampa Bay sports fans are excited. First, the Rays are looking good for the MLB playoffs. And the Bucs are now 2-1 with their win over the Broncos. It also helped that the Green Bay Packers defeated the Saints 37-30 last night. Tonight the Lightning could hold the Stanley cup high with a win. Finally, two female coaches and a female official made NFL history by being on the field at the same time. It happened when the Washington Football Team faced off against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday. Although they are not head coaches, it is progress.
