The Household Hazardous Waste and Electronic Waste Drive-Thru Collection Event will be held on Saturday, December 16th from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at Brackett Field in La Verne, California. This event is a free opportunity for Los Angeles County residents to dispose of unwanted household hazardous waste (HHW) and electronic waste (E-waste) in a safe and environmentally friendly manner.
What is HHW?
HHW is any household product that is hazardous to human health or the environment. This includes items such as:
- Paints, paint thinners, and turpentine
- Cleaners with acid or lye
- Pesticides or herbicides
- Household batteries or car batteries
- Pool chemicals
- Fluorescent light bulbs
- Used needles or sharps
- Unwanted or expired prescriptions
What is E-waste?
E-waste is any electronic device that has been discarded. This includes items such as:
- Computers
- TVs
- Monitors
- Printers
- Cell phones
- Stereos
- Microwaves
- Refrigerators
- Washing machines
How to prepare for the event:
- Bring your unwanted HHW and E-waste in a sturdy box, preferably in their original, labeled containers.
- Do not ever mix products together.
- Be prepared to leave your containers.
- Limit of 15 gallons or 125 pounds of hazardous waste per trip.
What will not be accepted:
- Explosives
- Ammunition
- Radioactive materials
- Trash
- Tires
- Business waste
- White goods (stoves, refrigerators, etc.)
- Controlled substances
- Biohazardous waste (blood, urine, etc.)
